For nearly four years Zach led Google/YouTube’s left-of-center political advertising team that brought cutting edge product offerings and marketing tactics to political campaigns.
Zach has worked at every level of politics including time on campaigns in 23 states and in Washington, DC. This includes serving as campaign manager for Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ successful reelection in 2008, President Obama’s Get-Out-the-Vote Director in the battleground state of Iowa in 2012, and working on the elections of Senators Claire McCaskill and Tom Daschle. Zach has also worked in the political departments at the DSCC and the Democratic Governors Association (DGA).
Zach has spoken on politics, media, technology, and campaigns at: Netroots Nations, American Association of Political Consultants, University of Mary Washington, UNC-Chapel Hill’s Journalism School, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard College, State Government Affairs Council, National College Media Conference, Washington Journalism and Media Conference, and Google’s Elections Academy.
Zach studied political science at the University of Mary Washington and holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He’s also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Homeless Children’s Playtime Project.
At his core, Zach is an organizer - bringing people together around a common mission, at the right moment, to achieve a desired outcome. He puts this experience to work daily with his toddler around bed time - a harder mission than any political campaign he’s worked on.
